Why I love Wednesdays

Wednesdays are garbage days in our neighborhood and we love garbage days! Why? Well Brayden insists on standing at the window all day until the truck comes. He doesn't want to play, or even watch Elmo. So that means mommy can get some things done while he just stands there for hours and waits for the truck. Hahaha, no complaints from me:)

Superstar Children!

Well we've been busy in our house the last few days. For one, Brayden is potty training! He's doing pretty well considering it's only day 3. We've had a few accidents today, but for the most part he's getting the hang of it. I followed "Potty training in less than a day" book, which is very old, but has good tips. It worked though. I was drained by the second hour, but luckily Travis was home to take over. I'm very proud of Brayden and know that when he really gets the hang of it, it will be so much easier to only have one child in diapers instead of two. I personal have been able to work on the virtue of patience a lot the last 3 days:)

Peyton had to keep up with her brother too and decided this week she would roll over for the first time. That's pretty good considering she barely gets any tummy time because of her acid reflux. On another note, we finally got her eczema under control and without putting mommy on a special crazy diet. Yeah!!!

Jesus Loves Me

The other day I was singing some songs with Brayden. We started singing "Jesus Loves Me." When we got to the chorus, Brayden started doing sign language to the words. How cute is that!!! I'm pretty sure he picked that up at church, which I think think is really neat. That's all for now. We are going to attempt potty training on Monday so we would love some prayers about that. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Puerto Rican Baby

As you can hopefully see from the pictures Peyton got her ears pierced a few days ago! I'm so glad we finally got that done. I was dreading it and I shouldn't have been because she did fine. She cried for 30 seconds and then they haven't bothered her since. For those of you who are gasping:) it's a Puerto Rican tradition for the baby girls to have their ears pierced when they are very little. I actually had mine pierced when I was a day old in the hospital! So, compared to me, Peyton is a little late:) In a way I did this in honor of my grandma. She always bought all the great-granddaughters birthstone earrings when they were born so they could get their ears pierced. My grandma was in the process of getting Peyton's when she passed away, so I wanted to do this for her.

We had a fun day on Saturday in the 91 degree weather!! We went and watched my nephew Pedro play t-ball, checked out he Puyallup Farmer's Market (which was so fun), and had some friends over for a bar-b-que. Brayden had a blast playing in his swimming pool. We put a slide into the swimming pool and he played in that thing for hours. Thank you Lord for the sun!

Happy Mother's Day!

Me and my two babies
Happy Mother's Day to all my mommy friends. I hope you all feel special today because frankly, we all deserve it. I was spoiled today with a pancake breakfast from the boys, cards, and a spa day from Gene Juarez!! I can't wait to use that one. I'm trying to decide between a massage and a facial, any ideas? This is my first Mother's Day having two children so it feels extra special. This is also my first Mother's Day without my grandma. I've been thinking a lot about her today, so I guess today has been bitter-sweet. I did enjoy the sermon at church. It was about bringing up our children in Godly ways. I thought it was a great reminder that I need to be teaching and talking to my children about God constantly. I've been wanting to do a devotional type study with Brayden for awhile and just don't know how to go about it. He's two, so things can't be too in depth, but I also know he can learn a lot of things now. To all my mommy friends, anyone have any ideas to teach a 2 year old about God? I would love to hear them.

Trip to California

Peyton and I just got back from a trip to Claremont, California to visit my little sister Desiree and her husband Jimmy. We had such a good time and can't wait to go back and visit with Travis and Brayden. Desi and Jimmy live down there because Jimmy is going to school to get his Masters in Christian Ethics. They will be married a year in July. My mom decided to come with me to provide baby help (thank God), then my aunt wanted to come to get away, and she invited my cousin Dylan for fun. We all had such a good time together and weren't ready to come back to reality. We did a lot of shopping and eating out at yummy places. It was jut good to be with family. We all still miss my grandma a lot and it was nice to in a way celebrate her together. Peyton did an amazing job being on the go all the time. She was pretty laid back and just smiled the whole time (well not the whole time, but the majority). One thing I did realize while traveling with a breastfeeding infant is that it's hard!! I had to feed her in the airport and asked a flight attendant if there was anywhere to feed her. Her answer was to sit on the toilet in the bathroom to feed her. Gross!!! Luckily I had my mom to help me and it was ok, but I don't know if I could do that on my own.
Travis and Brayden missed us but had a jam-packed boys weekend. They went and checked out Cabela's, worked in the yard, washed the car, went to a bow-shoot, had dinner at grandma's house, went fishing, painted my bedroom (looks so good), and went to church among other things. Brayden had a lot of fun and I'm glad they had that time together. I missed my boys, but overall had a great time visiting my sis. I'm so thankful for a husband who didn't blink an eye when I asked him if I could go and was happy to stay at home with Brayden. He gave me a much needed break! So, thanks McCarty's for a wonderful time and we can't wait to come back again!
